Pride Month Is Over. Now What?

Every June, timelines go technicolour. Logos get rainbow-washed. Companies roll out one event, maybe two. You’ll see a LinkedIn post, a diversity webinar, and a few cupcakes in the break room.
And then... silence.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
At Talent Initiative, we’re here to say what a lot of LGBTQ+ employees are already thinking: inclusion isn’t seasonal. Pride isn’t a marketing campaign. Allyship isn’t a logo swap. It’s culture — and it should show up every day.
The Problem with Performative Allyship
You know the routine:
✅ Rainbow logo in June
✅ One “celebration” event
✅ Polished post about inclusion
❌ Nothing changes
That’s not allyship. That’s branding.
According to research:
46% of LGBTQ+ employees don’t feel psychologically safe at work
Most companies go 11 months without showing visible support
Performative actions = 0 measurable change
The community notices. The silence between July and May speaks volumes.
If You’re an Ally, Prove It. In March. In September. Every Day.
Pride is powerful. But it’s not the only time people need support.
Real inclusion looks like:
January: Starting the year with inclusive hiring and onboarding
March: Backing your LGBTQ+ team when no one’s watching
September: Showing up when attention’s elsewhere
December: Supporting chosen families through the holidays
True advocacy doesn’t start and end in June. It’s a year-round commitment.
So, What Can You Actually Do?
Let’s move beyond the cupcakes and keynote speakers.
✅ Review Your Policies
Are your benefits, leave policies, and protections actually inclusive?
✅ Fund Your ERGs
Employee Resource Groups need budget, not just a Teams channel.
✅ Train Your Leaders
Managers should know how to create safe, inclusive spaces — not just recite values.
✅ Protect Your People
Address microaggressions. Challenge discrimination. Don’t stay silent.
✅ Measure Inclusion
Track what matters. Psychological safety. Representation. Belonging. Impact.
It’s Not About Optics. It’s About Action.
This isn’t about shaming companies that celebrated Pride. It’s about what happens after the rainbow fades.
If you’re ready to move from intention to impact, we’re here to help.
At Talent Initiative, we support organisations to:
Build inclusion into culture and operations, not just events
Create tailored strategies with measurable progress
Upskill leaders who shape workplace experiences daily
Turn policies into lived, felt realities for your people
Because nobody should have to wait until June to feel like they belong.
Let’s build authentic inclusion. Together. All year round.
